Explain the joke

The joke is a wordplay on “date.” The woman means a romantic date, but the developer answers with a preferred date format. `YYYY_MM_DD` is treated as the perfect date because it is sortable, unambiguous, and less confusing than formats like MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY.
